Principles

These are the commitments Stillstats is held to. Each one is a recorded decision, so a later change that breaks one is a breach, not an oversight.

What Stillstats is held to

No attention tricks

An attention trick is any part of an interface that rewards checking rather than informing a decision. Stillstats has none: no streaks, no red and green deltas, no growth alerts, and no confetti or celebration states.

Your own past is the default frame on every screen. Comparisons with other channels appear only when you ask for them, in a research view, and never as a grade, a target or a rank.

Outlier scores stay, because applied correctly they are a growth tool. A video is measured against its own channel's recent long-form uploads, and compared only with channels of a similar size. They arrive after YouTube's compliance audit accepts Stillstats.

The reason is simple: you get the information you need to decide how you want to grow, not how YouTube's benchmarks persuade you to. These principles hold in the web app and the Studio extension as well as on this site.

Retired metrics

Other tools still sell these. Stillstats does not offer them, because each one measures something other than how your own viewers respond to your videos.

Tags
YouTube says tags play a minimal role in discovery, useful mainly when a video's subject is commonly misspelled. Your title, thumbnail and description matter more.
SEO scores
A score built from title length, keyword counts and tag counts grades a checklist, not a video. YouTube recommends videos by what viewers watch and how satisfied they are.
Keyword competition scores
They are third-party estimates that YouTube does not confirm, and a keyword's difficulty says nothing about whether your audience wants the video.
Best-time-to-post advice
Generic best times describe other channels' audiences, not yours.
